OIL&GAS
Oil&Gas business was established at EDC at the beginning of 2007 and it is part of GE Oil&Gas Engineering.
It started from two employees, now it is more than 100 people hired, and we are still rapidly growing together with GE Oil&Gas business.
Major activities at EDC Oil&Gas include design, integration, analysis and service support of various types of compressors, gas and steam turbines for mechanical drive, power and cogeneration application, turboexpanders for energy recovery, auxiliary systems and subsea production systems.
EDC Oil&Gas is divided into seven major teams: Advance Technology (including Conceptual design, Material engineering, Aero Design, and Heat Transfer), Auxiliary Systems, Turbomachinery Design & Service, High Speed Reciprocating Compressors, Inquire to Order, Reliability, and VetcoGray.
Material and Process Engineering Team (MPE)
Material and Process Engineering team (MPE) coordinates and conducts failure analysis of components failed during service. The component range spreads from turbines and compressors down to piping and installation elements.
To the disposal of the team is a modern metallographic laboratory equipped with a wide array of analytic tools and instruments allowing complete material investigation. Among the instrumentation are: non-destructive testing stand, cutting tools, cold and hot mounting systems, polishing and etching stands, stereographic microscope, optical microscope, scanning electron microscope with ED Spectrometer and hardness tester. In addition to in-house analysis we provide comprehensive laboratory services using a broad network of cooperatives.
In addition to failure analysis, MPE offers also other services such as materials selection and testing. The knowledge of materials engineers is utilized to provide material and process consultation to Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Sourcing, Suppliers, GE Customers and others as needed. MPE is dedicated mainly to Nuovo Pignone in Florence and GEMINI product line in Houston.
If you are a material engineering student and would like to take internship at GE EDC Material and Process Engineering Department please send your CV to rekrutacja@ge.com with the email title: “Internship at O&G MPE”. You also can visit our EDC Students site.

Application Engineering and Project Engineering
Application Engineering and Project Engineering are the first and ongoing technical contact with the customer. In Application Engineering the job offer is reviewed for technical issues as well as scheduling needs, finally resulting in a work proposal to the customer. Project Engineering acts on that proposal and manages all technical issues and schedules for successful project completion.
Both functional groups:
- Continuously communicate with main office in the United States regarding project developments and capabilities
- Serve as Technical support to the regional sales director in Warsaw (covering regions from Estonia through Romania)
- Develop methods and capabilities to continuously improve effectiveness and efficiency both in Poland as well as the US.
Investigation to Quote/Application Engineering
This is one of the first lines of communication with the customer who receives system requirements for a potential project.
The Application Engineer:
- Receives and reviews customer design and delivery specifications
- Develops specifications for items that will be purchased by GE for this project, including motors, gearing, couplings, and lubrication systems
- Develops technical specifications and data for the project submission and records
- Performs cost and schedule analysis
- Prepares a final firm proposal of the product and delivery conditions to the customer
Project Engineering
The final proposal from Application Engineering then goes to project engineering for technical project management.
The Project Engineer:
- Technically coordinates the project, including supply scope, time and budget planning, quality assurance, specification compliance, and milestone fulfillment.
- Communicates with outside suppliers regarding timeframes and requirements.
- Communicates with the customer regarding technical clarifications and improvements.
- Operates cross-functionally across all engineering functions.
- Coordinates and supervises testing and construction activities taking place across Europe.
We currently have openings in both departments. We are looking for people eager to find a better way of doing things, not afraid to work in an unfamiliar area, and willing to become part of a team spanning several countries.
