Engineering Design Center (EDC) was created under an agreement between GE Aircraft Engines and the Institute of Aviation. Our engineers work in following areas: aircraft jet engines, gas and steam turbines, centrifugal and reciprocating compressors, as well as industrial installations including pipelines, and automatics. EDC employs over 1500 engineers and is the largest engineering center in the Central Europe. For the third time in a row, GE has been named second-best employer for engineers in Poland for 2011 in a country-wide survey conducted among engineers.

We are looking for both new graduates and experienced mechanical design engineers.

 

Design Engineer – CDN Mechanical Analysis – EDC Aviation

 

Location: Warsaw

Scope of activities:

  • Execute combustor and engine hot section structural parts design analysis across engine lines.
  • Provide engineering analysis support for improving design as well as for field and manufacturing issues.
  • Create finite element models (FEM) using a variety of tools (Hypermesh, GAMBIT,  ANSYS, UG, etc).
  • Take active part in analysis planning
  • Participate as a presenter in technical reviews.
  • Document technical data generated consistent with engineering policies and procedures

 

Requirements:

  • Master’s/Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering  – both graduates and experienced engineers are encouraged to take part in the recruitment process.
  • Mechanical design/material strength/fatigue/vibrations basic knowledge.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of engineering tools, including software for 3D solid modeling (UG NX) and Finite Element Methods (FEM) (Hypermesh,GAMBIT, ANSYS)
  • In-depth understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals.
  • General knowledge of turbofan engine architecture and manufacturing methods.
  • Demonstrated good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and good team player.

Design Engineer – PEC HPC Small/Medium Commercial team

 

Location: Warsaw

Small/Medium Commercial Team Hardware Owners are responsible for a wide variety of hardware design, analysis and support activities for mature engines design.

The scope includes: Manufacturing and fielded hardware support; Cost reduction and ease of production efforts; Root cause investigations and field problem resolutions of: Variable & Fixed Stator Vanes, Blades, Rotating Parts and Structures components.

This position will enable engineer to gain engineering expertise in diversified field of hardware types, extend knowledge of varied engine system designs and expand experience in different analysis types for compressor module components.

 

Scope of activities:

  • Provide design and analysis support for the CF34, CFM56 High Pressure Compressor hardware;
  • Interface with Manufacturing, Materials, Product Support (services), Product Definition (drafting), Suppliers organizations to ensure high quality hardware and services delivery;
  • Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures;
  • Prepare technical documentation, participate as a presenter in technical and programs reviews;

 

Requirements:

  • BSC or MSC in Engineering;
  • Proficiency in English in speaking and writing;
  • Good understanding of mechanics and strength of materials;

Desired:

  • Design engineering experience, preferably in turbomachinery hardware;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of ANSYS and UG software (or other CAD and FEM equivalents) is a plus;
  • Experience in team work, demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to work independently, under pressure and changing requirements;
  • Proven problem-solving skills, passion for learning;
  • Flexibility to work extended hours as circumstances dictate;

Mechanical Engineer – Subsea – EDC Oil&Gas

Location: Warsaw

Due to the rapid development of Oil&Gas sector, Engineering Design Center is looking for mechanical design engineers to work for the design of subsea equipment used in the processing of oil and gas production. Person in this position will be responsible for preparing detail design documentation of subsea systems equipment and tools in accordance with applicable standards and customer requirements.

 

We are looking for both new graduates and experienced engineers.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Designing the subsea systems equipment and other structural frameworks such as supports and fittings used in subsea oil and gas processing.
  • Modification of existing equipment.
  • Preparation of technical documentation.
  • Work closely with the foreign site engineering departments.

 

Requirements:

  • Degree in engineering (mechanical, chemical, offshore).
  • Good knowledge of CAD systems (Pro-Engineer, AutoCad).

NPI Systems Reliability Engineer – Advanced Technologies Team – EDC Oil&Gas

Location: Warsaw

Ref. no.:OG/AT-SRE/EDCW

 

Role summary / purpose:

Contribute and drive the Design For Reliability tasks which are integrated into NPI projects, this activity requires to work with the several products and applications, therefore different engineering departments, with the main scope to make the product meet the requirements.

Participate, as NPI team member, to each Design Reviews that require systems-engineering contribution for all auxiliary systems and flange to flange technical aspects.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Gathering of field data that may sustain the analysis on NPI on the basis of similarity analysis.
  • Defining the reliability and availability targets on the GE Oil&Gas experience basis.
  • Carrying out the risk prioritization at machine, subsystem as well as component level.
  • FMEA analysis to identify the critical failure modes to focus on for meeting Rel/Ava targets.
  • Empirical models definition to describe the reliability behaviour of the new systems.
  • Building up of the Reliability Block Diagram models based on P&ID’s and process/control information.
  • Define the validation plan and measure NPI product performance.

 

Qualifications / requirements:

  • BS in engineering, with 4-5 years of experience in design of industrial /power plant systems.
  • Knowledge of rotating equipment design (Gas/Steam turbines, Axial/Radial Compressors, Turbo expanders).
  • Capability to understand both: P&ID’s and layout drawings (piping, equipment, instrumentation, control).
  • Statistical methodology knowledge.
  • Understanding of industry design practices & standards / regulations / methodologies.
  • Proactive, cross-functional skills.
  • Fluent in English.

  • Probabilistic design knowledge.
  • Certified Green Belt.
